The next generation of young creative professionals will showcase their work during an art and design festival at Nottingham Trent University. Professionals in the creative and design industries from around the UK will descend on Nottingham for the university’s annual degree shows taking place 25 May – 3 June.

Hundreds of undergraduate students from the School of Art & Design and School of Architecture, Design and the Built Environment will exhibit their original, innovative and inspiring work produced during their time at the university. A highlight in the university’s calendar, the shows give the students the opportunity to display the culmination of their hard work and commitment, while illustrating why the university has earned its worldwide reputation for creativity, innovation and design excellence.

Open to members of the public, the art and design festival will feature an inspirational collection of final year work from over 20 courses across 19 different exhibitions. Visitors will be able to see an impressive array of work that spans different media and various creative practices, including sculpture, painting, illustration, graphics, photography, architectural design projects, futuristic products and cutting-edge furniture and interior solutions. Work in fashion communication and promotion, fashion, knitwear and textiles, decorative arts, print, moving image, theatre and digital design will also be shown.

The purpose-built creative spaces and stunning flagship Newton and Arkwright buildings on the university’s City campus will take centre stage to host the festival, which will celebrate the new creative talent.

Two popular and exciting fashion catwalk shows will run alongside the exhibitions, where the garment collections and product projects created by final-year fashion design and fashion knitwear design students will be presented. From here, a number of students will be selected  to show their collections at the prestigious Graduate Fashion Week in June. Here they will be looking to repeat the success of  Nottingham Trent University graduate Rory Longdon, who won the prestigious George Gold Award at last year’s Graduate Fashion Week.  He has  since launched his own collection for George at Asda and has been recruited by international fashion house MaxMara.

In addition to the catwalk shows, final year students from the university’s photography course will be showing their work at the Release photography festival. Hosted by a number of venues across Nottingham city – including Surface Gallery and Backlit Gallery - Release  will take place from 21 May to 1 June.

As well as the degree shows, fashion catwalk shows and Release, the students will exhibit their work both locally and nationally, taking part in a range of events and festivals around the city of Nottingham, and will have a  presence at a number of prominent and prestigious London shows – including New Designers, D&AD New Blood, Free Range and Graduate Fashion Week.

Professionals from the creative industries, and other industries, are offered the opportunity to attend a dedicated private view event on Thursday 24 May 2012 from 5 p.m. - 9 p.m, which will provide visitors with the opportunity to network with other professionals and purchase student work before the show are open to the general public.
