If you are a keen photographer looking for new subjects, how about visiting India on a tour led by expert photographer, Martin Parr? – British readers may recall his BBC TV series ‘The Genius of Photography’ a few years ago. Martin Parr is the author of Up and Down Peachtree: Photos of Atlanta   and Grimaces of the Weary Village,  among other books.

Parr, one of Magnum Photos’ photographers, will be leading the photography tour to India’s Golden Triangle; the trip is being run by Cox and Kings in conjunction with Magnum Photos.  A 12-day / 10-night tour, from 16-27 February 2014, is priced from £3,800 per person.

India is a favourite destination of many photographers and admired for its colour, culture and communities. In addition to the famous sights of the Taj Mahal, Amber Fort and City Palace, Parr will introduce travellers to the growing photographic community with a visit to the Photo Ink gallery and lecture by Raghu Rai at his Centre for Photography in Delhi. Parr says,

India is as wonderful as it is crazy. It is so photogenic, it is almost overwhelming. This opportunity will allow you to see India in a different light, whilst developing your photographic eye.

Parr has photographed extensively in India, exhibiting there in 2010 and releasing his publication Martin Parr in India that same year.

Guests will experience the vivacity and colour of India through photography, in a specially arranged escorted tour. With Martin Parr as the photographic tour guide, guests will spend 10 days journeying from Delhi to historic Lucknow, taking in the sights of Jaipur and Agra along the way. Guests will be encouraged to photograph their travels, with an informal critique session from Martin each evening. For more information, visit the Cox and Kings website
