Anne Hathaway poses in recreation of Avedon's classic shot

Luxury fashion magazine Harper’s Bazaar has re-created its classic 1959 Richard Avedon cover shot for the February 2013 issue, using actress Anne Hathaway.

The image will appear on the cover of subscribers’ copies of next month’s issue, and shows February cover star Hathaway posing on a ladder whilst she adds an ‘A’ to ‘Bazaar’.  The image introduces the Bazaar A List, a feature that the magazine promises ‘goes beyond the red carpet and under the velvet rope to capture the stars and star-makers in their private, unguarded moments’.

The picture is part of a set of images shot by international photographer David Slijper, and includes an eight-page feature on Hathaway dressed in clothes by US, French, Italian and British designers. In the classic ‘ladder shot’ Hathaway wears Donna Karan, styled by Leith Clark.

The February issue (out 3 January) has an interview with Golden-Globe-nominated Anne Hathaway, who talks about the forthcoming film release of British musical drama Les Misérables, in which she plays the heroine, Fantine. The full photoshoot is available in the February issue of Harper’s Bazaar.
