The evocative paintings of landscapes in America and Europe by leading Hudson River School artist Frederic Church are currently on display in London before moving on to Scotland later in the year.

Through American Eyes: Frederic Church and the Landscape Oil Sketch

Around 25 oil sketches are on show, including the one shown above - a view from the artist's Persian-style home in Olana, New York State. This exhibition is organised by the National Gallery in partnership with and through major support from the Terra Foundation for American Art.

In London, an additional show, 'Through European Eyes: The Landscape Oil Sketch' Oil sketches by European masters, complements the Frederic Church exhibition.
