Steve Higton Exhibition, ‘Impressions of East Anglia’

at Snape Maltings Gallery

On now until 3 September 2014

Snape Maltings Gallery in Snape, Suffolk are hosting a month long exhibition of Steve Higton’s ‘Impressions of East Anglia’. These are Steve’s latest collection of oil paintings, inspired by the artistic traditions of East Anglia and the wonderful scenes around every corner of the coast and countryside. The gallery say he is  ‘the perfect artist to capture the magic of summer in our beautiful part of the world’.

Originally from Nottingham, Steve has been painting all his life, while pursuing his career and climbing the corporate ladder within the Paper Industry.  A move to Utah, USA in 2005 brought about the opportunity to concentrate solely on his art.  Encouraged by the critical acclaim of fellow artists and the success in selling his paintings in several local exhibitions, he was spurred on to turn professional.

Steve returned to England in 2008, with a view to establishing himself as a professional artist in the beautiful county of East Anglia.  The coast, landscape and the rich artistic tradition of this inspirational county were the magnet that drew him to live and paint here.  The lure of the sea and the big skies outside his front door have been the inspiration for so many of Steve's paintings.  Local artists of the past, such as Edward Seago, have also been hugely inspirational for him in this respect.
