Interior of TASCHEN's London store, where one of the sales will be held

Art book publisher TASCHEN is holding a warehouse super sale. From 22 to 25 January there are 50% to 75% discounts available in all TASCHEN stores worldwide. So titles spanning the latest design, photography and unearthed historical treasures will cost no more than half their usual price.

The London store in Duke of York's Square, Chelsea will feature some of the very best bargains. In addition, the publisher is launching the #TASCHENsalefie promotion on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook. Whoever posts the most ‘liked’ photo using this hashtag will win $5,000 of TASCHEN books, with those posting the five most ‘liked’ images thereafter receiving $1,000 of TASCHEN books.

TASCHEN was founded in Cologne in 1980 by Benedikt Taschen. It initially focused on comic books but soon grew and began making lesser-seen art available to mainstream bookstores: photography, painting, design, history, film, architecture and beyond. The brand's mission is to publish innovative and beautifully designed art books at popular prices, although it has also sold some of the most expensive books in history. Famously TASCHEN published the $15,000, 75lbs, 700-page Greatest Of All Time – a tribute to Mohammad Ali. Der Spiegel called this ‘the biggest, heaviest, most radiant thing ever printed in the history of civilisation’.

TASCHEN opened its first store in London in 2007 and moved to its present home in Duke of York’s Square in October 2008. Designed by Philippe Stark, the store also features a Gallery downstairs showcasing the Limited Edition Art Prints and Collector’s Edition books that the company is well known for. Since opening the store has held book signings with Sir Paul Smith, Pedro Almodovar, Marc Newson and Sebastiao Salgado.

The store cannot reveal which books will be on sale or their prices before the event begins but books published on Her Majesty and The Age of Innocence over recent years suggest that Londoners can expect some great titles to be included.

The special January sale is taking place at TASCHEN's stores globally (London, Amsterdam, Beverly Hills, Brussels, Cologne, Hamburg, Hollywood, Madrid, Miami, Milan, New York and Paris). For more information log on to the TASCHEN website.
