26–28 September 2014
Opening night: 25 September 2014, 6–9pm
Whitechapel Gallery

The UK’s largest art book event returns for the sixth year on the weekend of 26–28 September.

The Whitechapel Gallery’s 2014 edition of The London Art Book Fair is the largest to date, with 94 exhibitors from 15 countries showcasing thousands of artists’ books, catalogues, monographs, zines, rare publications and brand new releases.

The London Art Book Fair celebrates the best of international contemporary art publishing. Exhibitors include galleries, booksellers, colleges and leading publishers such as Hatje CantzOnestar Press, Ridinghouse and Thames and Hudson. Rare and unusual books and prints from independent publishers, artists and presses include Nobrow’s books and art comics introducing the work of talented illustrators from around the world, and super/collider, whose publications and prints investigate the crossover between science and pop culture. A wide range of artists’ books from AMBrunoOnomatopee and many others will be on sale.

A packed events programme runs throughout the Fair, including talks, screenings, book signings and performances with leading artists and writers.

This year features Canada as a focus country in partnership with the Canada Council for the Arts, bringing a selection of the country’s presses, distributors, independent publishers and editions-makers to the UK for the first time.

Iwona Blazwick, OBE, Director of the Whitechapel Gallery said

2014 will be our largest and most ambitious Fair. In addition to our usual festival of events and a huge number of exhibitors, for the first time ever the Whitechapel Gallery will shine a spotlight on one of the many thriving art book scenes outside of London, and we are delighted to present a hand-picked selection of today’s most exciting creative publishers from Canada.

The London Art Book Fair is open Friday 26 September 11a.m. to, Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 September from 11a.m.–6p.m. Opening evening Thursday 25 September 6–9p.m. Free Entry. The Birgit Skiöld Memorial Art Book Awards will be announced on Friday 26 September 2014.
-The Whitechapel Gallery acknowledges the support of the Canada Council for the Arts, Canada's national arts funder. Last year, the Canada Council invested over $153 million in Canadian artists and arts organizations to ensure a vibrant arts sector in Canada and to make Canadian art more visible and competitive in the global marketplace.
