Unicef UK to host its first-ever contemporary art auction -

Unicef UK has announced that 35 artists have donated artworks to the charity’s first-ever contemporary art auction, SyriART, which will raise vital funds to help protect Syrian children from danger.

Hugh Scott-Douglas, Dan Rees, Antony Gormley, Anish Kapoor, Grayson Perry, Martin Creed, Olafur Eliasson, Urs Fischer and Juergen Teller are among the acclaimed line up of artists who have donated works for the auction, which will take place at Phillips Auction House on Tuesday 11 December.

All artworks will be on public exhibition from 2– 11 December at Phillips, 30 Berkeley Square, London with online bidding taking place through the online auction site Paddle8 (paddle8.com/unicef) from 27 November.

All funds raised from the sales will help Unicef, the world’s leading children’s organization, provide children in Syria and refugee children in five neighbouring countries – Jordan, Lebanon, Turkey, Iraq and Egypt – with vital aid and support, as part of the largest humanitarian operation in history. Over seven million Syrian children are in urgent need of humanitarian assistance.

The UK government will match all UK public donations and successful bids to SyriART £1 for £1, meaning your support could help twice as many children.

Unicef UK executive director, David Bull said:
Millions of Syrian children are in danger and in urgent need of food, water, vaccinations and psychological support. Children have borne the brunt of this dreadful and long running conflict and witnessed unbearable violence. Unicef will not rest until we reach every child in danger. SyriArt is bringing together artists from across the globe to raise vital funds for Syrian children.
